What will the successful candidate be doing:
Task delivery/service provision in support of the Nuclear Safety Governance and Process Lead and Senior Nuclear Safety Support roles, including the development, maintenance and delivery of an effective nuclear safety governance and assurance programme, the delivery of intelligent nuclear safety performance analysis, and maintenance of safety arrangements to ensure Sellafield Ltd remains compliant with legislative and professional/occupational standards.
The role holder reports to the Nuclear Safety Governance and Process Lead and where applicable in task delivery, takes direction from Senior Nuclear Safety Support role holders. The role holder is required to work collaboratively across the enterprise to enable safe, prioritised and accelerated delivery of the Sellafield Limited Programme.
The Ideal Candidate:
Principal accountabilities:
- The role holder reports to and supports the Nuclear Safety Governance and Process Lead in the maintenance of Sellafield safety arrangements.
- Deliver defined elements of the nuclear safety governance and assurance programme that encompasses legislative requirements, company standards, targets for nuclear safety and corrective action/improvement plans.
- Develop, maintain and analyse Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and other data to measure site nuclear safety performance, overall health of the nuclear site license, nuclear safety arrangements and the delivery/maturity of improvement plans. Report the outputs via relevant governance routes and propose timely action where necessary.
- Identify, observe and record internal and external good practice and share with relevant stakeholders.
- Deliver defined elements of the safety improvement programme.
- Proactively seek and apply learning on the application and effectiveness of the nuclear safety arrangements, process and methods, and undertake timely response, including suggesting incorporation into safety improvement programmes.
- Support the Nuclear Safety Governance and Process Lead in benchmarking activities with other public and private sector organisations, work with relevant professional bodies, and support relevant national and international working groups to identify, influence and where appropriate adopt relevant good practice.
- Proactively assist and support the business to develop and deliver corrective actions/improvements, through the provision of nuclear safety intelligence and support in the effective application of nuclear safety processes and methods.
- Support the Nuclear Safety Governance and Process Lead in specific regulatory interfaces.
The Ideal Candidate:
Essential Skills:
- Ability to interpret and analyse different types of data.
- IT skills including ability to interrogate databases, extract and process data and create reports for various audiences. Familiarity with standard MS Office tools.
- Good attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences using a variety of methods.
- Ability to build effective relationships and influence professional employees and proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and prioritise workload.
- Ability to carry out inspections, observations, and assurance activities.
- Level 3 qualification in a relevant STEM subject.
Desirable Skills:
- LRQA Internal Auditor qualifications are or equivalent level of qualifications / experience.
- Familiarity with PowerBI and Qlikview data/reporting tools would be beneficial.
