Job Responsibility:

Our Network & Telecommunications team have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Field Telemetry Engineer to join them based in either Kendal or Carlisle.

Our role

As a field-based Senior Telemetry Engineer you will be responsible for undertaking all aspects of work on the primary, secondary and tertiary telemetry network devices.

This will include fault work and the commissioning of new RTUs onto the high voltage network, the testing, maintenance and repair of all automated secondary overhead protection equipment and relays and the testing of all new automated ground mount circuit breakers.

These devices support the SCADA / Control System used by Electricity North West to monitor and control the whole Electricity system.

What we're looking for:

  • A HNC level qualification in Electrical Engineering;
  • Experience in electrical or electronic engineering, fault finding, repair and maintenance;
  • Substation access authorisation;
  • Authorised Person to Switch on the 6.6Kv & 11Kv network (desirable);
  • Relevant authorisation codes to undertake work on RTUs and protection equipment;
  • A sound understanding of FLISR and LAR functionality;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Automation equipment;
  • Extensive knowledge of test, maintenance and the repair of all automated secondary overhead protection equipment and relays;
  • Extensive knowledge of testing of all new automated ground mount circuit breakers;
  • Extensive knowledge of telemetry equipment and substation environments;
  • An understanding of Electricity Distribution safety rules, Telecoms practices and principles;
  • Awareness of DNP3 communication logs to assist in the diagnosis of telemetry faults;
  • Familiarity with DC and AC power systems;
  • Excellent IT skills, Microsoft Office and use of laptop devices as programming tools.
