Role Summary:

We have a new opportunity for a Payroll and Benefits Coordinator to join our UK Reward team, initially on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a great opportunity to build on your skills and knowledge in this area and be part of a global, growing organisation.

We offer hybrid working which means that you will work from one of our Aptia UK offices, as well as from your home address.

Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare and check end-to-end payroll for all UK employees using Workday and our pensions and benefits platform, ensuring accuracy and compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Calculate statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, and ShPP, ensuring compliance with eligibility and calculation rules.
  • Carry out checks of outputs from the external payroll provider against inputs.
  • Manage the administration of employee benefits, including pension contributions and salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Handle payroll queries and discrepancies promptly, providing exceptional customer service to employees.
  • Contribute to reconciliation of payroll accounts, prepare payroll journals, and assist with month-end and year-end processes.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data security and confidentiality.
  • Assist with internal and external payroll audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Stay updated on payroll legislation changes and implement necessary adjustments to payroll processes.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of payroll-related activities.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 3 to 5 years’ minimum experience in managing UK payroll, with a strong understanding of HMRC regulations.
  • Proficiency in using payroll software and systems (ADP preferred, Sage, or similar platforms)
  • Experience in processing statutory payments and handling payroll deductions.
  • Knowledge of auto-enrolment pension schemes and other employee benefits administration.
  • Familiarity with Real Time Information (RTI) reporting requirements and procedures.
  • Previous experience in reconciling payroll accounts and assisting with audits is preferred.
  • MS Office proficiency – particularly Excel for payroll calculations and reporting.

This role will suit someone with strong numerical and analytical skills with high attention to detail.

You will be organised and able to balance multiple priorities, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

You will also be comfortable communicating with colleagues at all levels, able to explain complex payroll issues clearly whether by email or verbally. Integrity and confidentiality are also paramount in this role, and you will be committed in your role to maintaining employee data security.

If this sounds like your ideal next role, please apply with your CV as soon as possible.
