We are looking for a Catering Technician to join our team based at Kendal College. We require an individual with a passion for food preparation and kitchen operations.
They will build strong, positive working relationships with a supportive and collaborative team, and professional services who share the common goal of providing a meaningful educational experience.
They will have excellent organisational and time-management skills and be able to prioritise work effectively to meet objectives and deadlines. They will be comfortable with, and proactively adapt to rapid changes in educational trends within the sector. They will be able to plan and prioritise their own schedule of work to achieve objectives, have strong IT skills and happy to be part of a close-knit team with shared objectives.
Job Overview
The role of Catering Technician will be an integral part of ensuring the delivery of a consistent, high-quality service. The position involves working within college hospitality functions, courses and services as well as the cafes including all aspects of food preparation, food service, kitchen and canteen hygiene and other duties associated with food service operations.
The successful candidate will have experience of ordering, receipting, storage and issuing of catering supplies.
The successful candidate will work within the Catering team to ensure a high level of customer service at all times. To ensure best value at all times and work within tight budget constraints.
All staff have a responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

What we're looking for
Qualifications
EssentialDesirable Level 3 Food Safety and Supervising English, Maths, and Science at Level 2 (GCSE A* to C or equivalent)
Experience
EssentialDesirable Relevant industry experience Experience in a College or training organisation Experience of working to budgets in purchasing or procurement Supervisory or management experience
Knowledge & Skills
EssentialDesirable Excellent timekeeping Competent user of IT - especially Microsoft Office packages. Good communication skills with the capacity to build good relationships Ability to work unsupervised and on own initiative Able to maintain accurate records such as orders and HACCP. Impeccable food and hygiene standards Knowledge of current legislation and hygiene regulations
