Our Employer Relations & Development team develop, manage and build relationships with corporates, SMEs, business chambers, non-profit organisations, NGOs and government agencies across all sectors on a global scale developing partnerships to enhance opportunity development and labour market intelligence for our stakeholders.

We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King's students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King's faculties to do so.

About the role

We are recruiting two Employer Relations & Development Advisers to cultivate and develop engagement with employer partners, playing an important role in enhancing the global employability of our students and graduates and ensuring King's College London remains a top-tier target institution for the widest range of graduate employers.

The post holder will be responsible for business development and opportunity provision within one of our defined industry clusters. Being data informed, they will identify target employers, build innovative strategies for physical and virtual engagement, account manage individual relationships and develop partnerships to support our strategy of integrating employability into a King's education at all levels of study. They will also become a labour market specialist within their cluster, researching, collating and curating key information to share knowledge with our students, academics and other staff, alongside informing our work-based learning initiatives.

Advisers will also work with colleagues across Careers Education and Student Careers Engagement to develop our digital careers portfolio and direct student engagement, including video production and workshops, curating digital ‘pathways' and chairing panels and other events.

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to cultivate meaningful relationships, opportunities and engagement with a breadth of external partners alongside delivering directly to our audiences through an innovative range of annual activities. There are two roles being filled. One is a permanent contract, the other is a 12 month maternity cover contract, ending on 31 August 2025.

This is a full-time post (35 Hours per week) requiring regular engagement on campus, but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible working pattern within necessary service operating norms. Some evening and weekend working will be necessary on occasion.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in relationship management, or business development. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training
  • Proven experience of developing new and existing external partnerships effectively to broaden networks
  • Ability to successfully negotiate and influence a range of stakeholders, marketing and developing services to grow and broaden opportunities at every opportunity
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly in a multi-faceted environment with a range of stakeholders at various levels of seniority
  • Ability to follow processes, policies and agreements to provide maximum effectiveness in delivery of relationship management and targets
  • Strong research and analytical skills, supporting operational delivery of the portfolio, constructing reports and data sets as required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively in writing, and orally
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK graduate labour market, needs of employers and the current graduate employability landscape
  • Strong digital capabilities, including usage of business communication platforms, customer relationship management systems (CRM) and e-learning tools
  • Proven experience of innovation and creativity when coming forward with new ideas and developing and reviewing new processes or initiatives

Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge and understanding of the higher education landscape, including the impact of national policy issues on work-based learning, experiential and student employability
  • Experience of delivering workshop content or training to audiences of students or equivalent.
