Job Responsibility:

The Opportunity: Avantor is looking for a driven and enthusiastic Cell Bank Operatives to join the team based in Cambridge. In this position, you'll join a team of Technicians, to support the UK Cell Bank and take on responsibility of managing the storage and supply of cell lines. Maybe you're working in logistics, hospitality or retail but have an interest in science, this could be your opportunity to transition your career into the laboratory world! This role will be a full-time, permanent position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am - 3:00pm The team You'll join small team of three Cell Bank Technician and their team leader. The team's focus is on receiving, processing, putting away cell lines and making sure samples are available for scientists for their Research & Development activities. You'll belong to our business department Lab and Production Services, which supports leading pharmaceutical companies and laboratories all over the world, in Research and Development within the Life Sciences industry. What we're looking for

• Education:
• Five GCSE's including Maths, English and one or more Science subjects essential
• A-level or equivalent, and/ or previous working experience in a laboratory environment, ideally performing a similar role desirable

• Experience: Experience of working in compliance with global standards and regulations following defined SOP's desirable but not essential. Logistics (shipment preferably). Experience from pharmaceutical/science industry desirable (raw materials, cell, samples shipments) is preferable.

• Preferred qualifications:
• Self-motivated, energetic, dependable, honest
• Competent in use of IT systems and software
• Solid understanding of LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems), or another information management system or tracking system is preferable

How you will thrive and create an impact

• Handling cell lines to ensure that cells are received, inventoried, logged, labelled, stored, tracked, dispatched, returned and/or disposed of appropriately
• Picking and dispatching of cells within the facility and to external sites including International Shipments
• Use of tracking systems as appropriate and communicates effectively with internal customers
• Support other Avantor groups with decanting liquid nitrogen, housekeeping of Cryogenic Facility
• Manual handling involved lifting heavy columns from cryotanks
