In the role of Pastoral Mentor you'll predominantly be based at one of our sites and your focus will be on delivering effective interventions to support the attendance, behaviour and commitment of our students.

Your key responsibilities will be

  • Offering a range of holistic support to ensure a rounded approach to support for students.
  • Liaising closely with relevant staff and external stakeholders in supporting students identified as at risk.
  • Enabling and supporting students to overcome barriers to progress and success.
  • Ensuring students are safeguarded and provided appropriate follow up support

Ideally, you'll have a qualification relating to student support or youth work (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and demonstrable experience in working with 14-19 year old students with barriers to engaging with education. It's important that you're able to evidence your understanding of the range of problems likely to affect 16-18 year old students and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.

Term time only staff who start mid year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.
