Job Responsibility:

Background: We are seeking an ambitious postdoctoral researcher to study the molecular mechanisms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a devastating and fatal disease, in a project funded by the Motor Neurone Disease Association. You will be driving an interdisciplinary project combining structural biology and neuroscience, requiring expertise in X-ray crystallography, NMR or cryo-EM with desirable experience with Drosophila melanogaster models.

Job Purpose: You will lead a research program investigating the importance of integrin signalling in ALS. You will have or recently completed a PhD in structural biology with experience in structure determination (X-ray, NMR, or Cryo-EM). Applications from candidates with expertise in using Drosophila Melanogaster are also desirable.

Environment: The Zacharchenko lab is based at the Manchester Matrix Centre, one of eight Wellcome Discovery Research Platforms. The research associate will have access to world-class biochemical and biophysics facilities and collaborate with a critical mass of researchers at the cutting edge of cell-matrix biology.
