Job Responsibility:

This is a Full-time post and the holder will be expected to work flexibly on the ST3+(middle grade/Registrar) rota. Duties will cover all areas in the department including admissions unit, Level 2 neonatal unit, out-patients, paediatric emergency department and maternity unit for high risk deliveries. The role also encompasses elements of clinical audit, clinical governance, teaching of medical students, nursing staff and junior doctors. There is a rolling programme of teaching with regular lunchtime teaching. There is a weekly clinical meeting (Friday afternoon), and X-ray meeting (Monday morning). Teaching is also available for postgraduate examinations, e.g. MRCPCH, DCH. The postgraduate medical centre has a well-stocked library, a computer terminal for Medline searches and CD databases. The computer terminals are also available within the Department. The successful applicant is expected to play a full part in the active department training programme for other doctors and assist in the education of clinical students from Oxford and other medical schools.
