The Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy are seeking a full-time Stores Technician to join the finance team at their West Cambridge site.

You will assist the Departmental Buyer with customer service support and responding to procurement queries.

Tasks will include:

Receipt of goods, issuing of stock from the stores, re-ordering stock as required to maintain minimum levels and ensuring that stock is costed correctly using the University finance system. Knowledge of a store inventory system and basic Word and Excel would be an advantage.

The successful candidate will be used to working without supervision in a busy environment whilst maintaining high levels of support. Previous experience of working within a stores / purchasing role would be expected, but training for the right candidate could be an option.

The role involves day-to-day contact with academics, researchers, professional service staff, students and outside couriers, requiring the ability to communicate effectively with this wide range of people. The successful candidate will be highly organised and possess methodical working methods. On-the-job training in the use of the University's systems, policies and procedures will be provided.
