Job Responsibility:

ACS International Schools are seeking an IB and AP English Teacher to work at our Cobham campus in Surrey, UK. The teacher will be required to teach the DP/AP curricula at High School level, ages 16-18.

Our diverse and inclusive student body is made up of 70 different nationalities. We offer boarding to over 100 Middle, Upper and High school students. All students have access to extensive co-curricular and enrichment programmes.

ACS Cobham's 128 acre campus is 25 miles from central London, offering world class facilities. Knowledge, skills, and experience required:

  • Bachelor's degree/Bachelor of Education
  • A teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS/Teaching licence/certification or equivalent) 2 or more years of post qualifying teaching experience to relevant age groups
  • Solid IB MYP/DP teaching knowledge and experience
  • Strong IT skills, preferably with Apple products
  • Demonstrates consistently high standards of personal and professional conduct
  • Fluent in English both verbal and written
  • Significant experience and willingness to integrate technology to improve teaching and learning
  • Experience of teaching in an international school is desirable but not essential.

Accountabilities:

  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge students in a safe learning environment, rooted in mutual respect
  • Plan and teach well-structured engaging lessons, adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students
  • Promote student progress and outcomes, assess and provide feedback
  • Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop teaching and learning resources for students at different levels
  • Promote a love of learning
  • Offer help to all students who need additional learning support, working with Resource teachers, including EAL and learning differences specialists, to support students with specific learning needs
  • Undertake training, keep up-to-date on requirements and work as an advisor in the Pastoral Care programme, overseeing the day-to-day wellbeing of students to identify any student issues, problem-solving with the pastoral care team as required, liaising with parents/carers
  • Participate in the extra-curricular programme
  • Support with other duties to assist with the smooth running of the school.
