Referrals to the outpatient clinic are part received from local neurology teams, although almost a third of these referrals are national. Of this number approximately 50% is for Functional Neurological Disorder and related conditions. In the past 18months the service has set up a novel neurology led first assessment clinic for FND, which is where the main clinical activity for this post will take place. The fellow will be supervised by both neurologists and psychiatrists, as well as working alongside the multi-professional team at King's Health Partners. The most common condition in this sub-speciality is functional neurological disorder (FND), which will be a key focus of the fellowship. The fellow will have exposure to all the elements of an optimal care pathway for FND and gain the competency to offer specialist assessments and treatment planning for these patients. The fellow will also gain competencies in other core areas of neuropsychiatry, including brain injury, epilepsy, movement disorders and autoimmune encephalitis. The fellow will have 1 day per week of protected time for study or research. Many aspects of the fellowship can be tailored to the specific interests or training needs of the individual.
