The Role Internal Communications and Engagement Officer
We now have an exciting new role for an outstanding Internal Communications and Engagement Officer. The role will be working alongside the wider People team and in collaboration with the Marketing and PR team. The Internal Communications and Engagement Officer will be responsible for the planning and delivery of a robust internal communications plan in support of the internal communications strategy. This role manages all areas of internal communications that is planning and delivering effective communications via online and offline events, intranet, email, newsletter, video and, in some cases, external channels
We're looking for a dynamic individual who has the passion and drive to:
- Create Engaging Content- Develop all types of content, including copy, video, and photography, for internal channels, the intranet, and events. Deliver authentic, fresh, and inspiring communications across platforms, taking a journalistic approach to seek out and generate compelling stories and narratives.
- Develop and Plan Internal Communications- Create and implement comprehensive internal communications plans that support both the overall strategy and people-focused goals. Regularly review and measure these plans, using a scorecard to track and ensure key KPIs are met.
- Manage Communication Channels- Oversee all internal communications channels, such as the intranet, newsletters, vlogs, blogs, all-staff briefings, and email updates, ensuring consistent and effective messaging across the board.
- Collaborate on Communications Development-Work closely with the People, PR, and Marketing teams to align internal and external communications, ensuring consistency in brand tone and messaging across all platforms.
- Manage Networks and Relationships- Develop and maintain a stakeholder matrix, building and managing key relationships at all organisational levels, including with the CEO and Directorate. Influence and persuade stakeholders to deliver a cohesive communications plan.
- Coordinate and Manage Events- Plan and coordinate engaging events for colleagues, such as Director Engagement Sessions, to inspire and connect our teams. Support zoo-wide communication and engagement activities.
- Design and Deliver Engagement Initiatives- Lead the creation and implementation of proactive, innovative activities for initiatives like Vibrancy, Wellbeing, and Diversity and Inclusion. Collaborate closely with the People & Culture Department to advance these programs and enhance team engagement.
Our Requirements
- Experience in a Communications or employee engagement related role
- Experience of creating and editing video content
- Excellent copywriting skills with the ability to produce engaging content, demonstrating high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
- A creative and forward thinking approach
- Experience across digital communications channels
- Excellent planning and organisational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across a diverse workforce
Although not essential, the following would be desirable:
- Communications specific qualifications would be desirable
- Experience of SharePoint would be an advantage.
- Event management experience would be desirable
The Package
- Contract Type Permanent 40 hours a week with a rota weekend of being on call as part of the Duty PR rota, for which the role holder will be compensated
