About the Role

Lister Medical Centre has an opportunity for a prescribing & recalls administrator, to join our busy prescribing team working at the heart of patient care services. This role is offered as a part time position for 22.5 hours per week, the hours are as follows:
  • Monday: 08.30 to 16.30
  • Tuesday: 12.30 to 16.30
  • Thursday: 12.30 to 16.30
  • Friday: 08.30 to 16.30
The main duties include:
  • Ensuring that requests for repeat prescriptions are actioned appropriately . This includes checking email requests and involves a rota system
  • Responding to all queries and requests from chemists, nursing homes and district nurses, regarding the issue of prescriptions.
  • Keeping repeat prescription information up-to-date in the patient journal.
  • Sending out review letters.
  • Organising blood tests or blood pressure checks for patients, relevant to their prescribing needs.
  • Keeping up-to-date with all prescribing guidelines and protocols, relevant to the position.
  • Ensuring all current medication have relevant, current authorisations.
  • Re-authorising repeat prescriptions where necessary.
  • Ensuring that expiry dates on repeat prescriptions are harmonised for each patient.
  • Liaising with the pharmacist to monitor specific drugs for overuse & report findings to the GP.
  • Communicating with new doctors in medication review protocols & practice formulary choices.
  • Updating existing doctors in new protocol developments.
  • Advising the pharmacist and GP's when patient medication reviews are required.

General practice experience and knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage.
