Job description An opportunity has arisen within Finance Business Team at South Cambridgeshire District Council for an exceptionally talented and enthusiastic individual to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a developing organisation and be an integral part of shaping and growing our team. In this new role you will be part of our Housing, Technical and Investment Planning team leading and managing the Councils well established subsidiaries in a business partnering approach as well as coordinating the preparation of the Councils annual published financial statements (Statement of Accounts) in line with the statutory requirements and timescales. The Finance Business Partner will play a key role in providing comprehensive financial support and advice to South Cambs Limited (Ermine Street Housing), Shire Homes Lettings Limited, Cambourne Business Park Limited, and other relevant companies including financial planning, monitoring, and reporting alongside the production of the annual accounts. Working in collaboration with others, the role will be expected to monitor, analyse the impact of and implement new legislation, regulation, and accounting standards. We are looking for someone who has a blend of technical and people skills who can develop and maintain strong trusted relationships both across the companies, Council and with external partners.
We are looking for someone who:- Is AAT qualified or Part-Qualified in one of the professional accounting bodies (ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA).
- Has an extensive accountancy and finance background.
- Can be flexible and is able to work in a fast-paced financial environment where deadlines and priorities may change.
- Can work on their own initiative as well as being part a wider finance team.
- Has experience of administering financial processes and providing support in these areas such as the Finance Management System, VAT, Treasury Management, Budgeting and Forecasting.
- Can constructively challenge and has excellent communication skills to consult with senior managers, budget holders, Members, and external stakeholders.
- Has experience in setting up and maintaining successful partnerships.
- Has a strong finance background with a proven record in financial and management reporting.
- Has a high diligence and accuracy with the ability to deal with large and complex levels of data.
- Has proficiency in Excel.
- Can supervise, motivate, and coach staff and contribute to technical skills development within the team.
