Are you a skilled Management Accountant looking to make a difference in a caring environment? Join Bloomcare, a leading care provider in the North West, and play a key role in our finance team.

About the Role:

We are currently looking for an experienced Management Accountant. You will oversee the provision of a full financial accounting service and ensure accurate, timely, and relevant information is produced to enable effective financial management of the Group. Our Finance team is primarily based in Southport, but we embrace a hybrid working model, making this role suitable for candidates located anywhere in the North West.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of periodic financial statements, including profit and loss accounts, budgets, cash flows, variance analysis, and commentaries
  • Management of the month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for all departments to ensure a complete and consistent approach is followed regarding timetable, accounting treatment, and materiality (e.g. corrections, recharges, accruals, prepayments)
  • Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers
  • Liaising with other function managers to put the finances and accounts in context
  • Analysing financial performance and contributing to medium and long-term business planning/forecasts
  • Offering professional judgement on financial matters and advising on ways of improving business performance
  • Balance Sheet Reconciliations
  • Maintenance of Fixed Asset registers
  • Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements where needed
  • Implementing new systems to automate the accounting function
  • Review of accounting processes and practices, development and implementation of financial policies, corporate governance procedures, risk management, and internal controls to ensure accounting standards and regulation compliance and efficient financial operations
  • Assistance in the development and management of the Accounts Payable process
  • Assistance with financial audits
  • Providing support to the Financial Controller and Finance Director

Who We're Looking For:

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work with colleagues at all levels, including non-finance members of staff
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting formats
  • Ability to interrogate and process data, taking it from basic bookkeeper-provided level to management level
  • Ability to explain complex financial information clearly
  • Proficiency in IT, particularly in the use of financial information systems and spreadsheets
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with the ability to follow up queries and issues through to resolution
  • Organised and able to work to deadlines both independently and cooperatively as part of a team
  • A strong team motivator, able to lead by example and delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively

Qualifications:

  • AAT Level 4/Part qualified and studying towards a professional accountancy qualification (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 3 years of management accounting experience
  • Care home industry experience preferred but not essential

Salary and Benefits:

  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.
