Job Responsibility:

Prepworld is looking for a Food Hygiene Supervisor on Nights, responsible for the daily management and development of Industrial Hygiene operation team. The Food Hygiene Supervisor will maintain, promote and inspect good Food Safety and H&S practices as a core principle of Hygiene activity on site. Coordinating all cleaning and disinfection aspects across food production areas and machinery, communicate all instructions clearly and motivate a large team.

Main duties:

  • Effectively manage and develop a multiskilled Hygiene team.
  • Monitor Hygiene team task completion and quality of it.
  • Ensure a safe working environment for the employees in the department.
  • Ensure the highest Food Safety, H&S and hygiene standards are embedded throughout the team.
  • Conducting audits and generating reports to establish root cause, corrective actions and preventative actions
  • Planning, organising and monitoring the team in order to achieve or exceed the expected performance levels.
  • Maintain the Hygiene training matrix, and identify training requirements for team members to develop a multiskilled team. Identify areas for improvement in structure of the team, tasks and responsibilities and management of headcount.
  • Maintaining excellent communication throughout the department in order to ensure the hygiene plans are adhered.
  • Responsible for ensuring all work conforms to the processes and the Hygiene Management System, Food Safety Management System and Safety Management System
  • Supervision of the Hygiene team, and deputising in the Hygiene Managers absence
  • Responsible for ensuring that the required quality, safety, hygiene and environmental standards are implemented, maintained and improved.
  • To ensure working areas are free from slips, trips and fall hazards and that all Health & Safety requirements are me
  • Ensure appropriate standards of housekeeping and hygiene are maintained at all times to minimise risk of product contamination.
  • Guarantee the microbiological sampling plan for validation and verifications are adequately completed as per schedule. Ensure all samples are accurately registered on the lab system prior to collection and communicate any issues with the Food Safety Team or external lab in a timely manner.
  • Completion of planned and ad hoc projects for Food Safety and hygiene (including microbiological investigations, technical validation trials and reviews of some CCP equipment)
  • To be aware of all food industry cleaning chemicals their use, mixing strengths and precautions.
  • To be able to design, implement hygiene procedures and records, supervise the hygiene team, and efficiently implement cleaning schedules.
  • To be able to participate and execute hygiene related risk assessments.
  • To design, implement and manage hygiene related Standard Operating Procedures and Cleaning Instruction Cards.
  • Develop strong working relationships in order to drive continuous improvement in site standards.
  • Ensure all scheduled cleans are completed and communicated.
  • Monitor effectiveness of cleans in conjunction of labour costs with a view to continuous improvements. Work within set budgets.
  • Responsible for ensuring effective communication with regards to company hygiene standards across and between shifts within the teams to ensure optimum performance is achieved.
  • Responsible for completing the hygiene control sheets/schedules.
  • Responsible for training new staff.
  • Carry out any reasonable ad hoc task as requested by your line manager.
  • Monitor the work of Hygiene Operatives whilst performing their tasks.
  • Control of site PPE, inventory and issuance.
  • Inventory and deliveries of site chemicals and PPE.
  • Management of the HR admin requirements of the team, including booking of holidays, absence line detail, return to works and staff management systems, e.g. Mitrefinch and My PrepWorld.
  • Participation and preparation for audits and visits
  • Trending the departments Key Performance Indicators

  • Able to read, speak and understand English to a proficient level (essential)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (essential)
  • Experience in a Team Lead / Supervisory role (essential)
  • Food Saftey (training / certification)
  • Health and Safety (training / experience / certification)
  • Some engineering experience (i.e taking apart & reassembling machines)

Days and hours of work:

Sunday to Wednesday's, 18:00 - 06:00

Salary: Starting at £15.36 (level 1) rising through to £16.15 (level 2) and then £17.04 (level 3) after full training and development
