We are working with a global leader in refrigerated commercial transportation who are seeking a Workshop Manager to oversee and support our workshop and mobile technicians at our West London depot.

Role Overview
Reporting to the Depot General Manager and Regional Fleet Engineer, the Workshop Manager will oversee the service, repair, and maintenance workshop for our vehicle fleet. Responsibilities include cost control, maintenance standards, health and safety, security, and manpower planning. The role focuses on customer service excellence and managing customer expectations, contracts, and KPIs. You will lead a technical team in a modern workshop, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely, complying with legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily workshop operations and staff
- Develop and maintain customer relationships
- Oversee estimates, quotes, invoices, and necessary authorisations
- Monitor and review service charges and financial performance
- Liaise with third parties and manage supplier relationships
- Enhance workshop systems and staff training
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and health and safety regulations
- Maintain quality control of all work, especially MOT preparation and testing
Additional Responsibilities
- Support the Depot General Manager in business operations
- Develop systems to promote compliance and efficiency
- Assist in data analysis and presentation
- Support HR management and project implementation
- Handle customer and client queries, complaints, and failures
Key Requirements
- Hands-on approach with ownership of the role
- Strong vehicle maintenance and workshop management experience
- Formal mechanical qualifications
- Customer-focused with a track record of business performance
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Team management and development experience
- Understanding of profit and loss, budget, and cost management
- Excellent communication and attention to detail
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Proven track record in a Heavy Goods Vehicle Workshop or equivalent
- NVQ Level III or equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Full Clean UK Driving Licence
Desirable Qualifications
- IRTEC Licence
- HNC/HND in a Motor Vehicle-related subject
- Level III Electric Vehicles qualification
- Class II HGV Licence
- IOSH Qualification
