We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Assistant to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Five Wells, a category C men's Prison located in Wellingborough

With a maximum capacity of 1,687, it is the largest prison in the East Midlands, and one of the largest in the UK.

We are looking for individuals who have a strong passion for care and working within a pharmacy setting, if this sounds like you then apply below!

Hours - The site currently offers Monday - Friday; 7am - 3pm

Salary - This position is full time, you'll receive an annual salary up to £27,195 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Pharmacy Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. You will
  • Complete general dispensary duties and stock management
  • Be working as an active member of the Pharmaceutical team to ensure delivery of the pharmaceutical service
  • Provide a timely and efficient service to the prison wings
  • Receive prescriptions and stick returns from wing based clinical areas
  • Collect orders from suppliers from the Main Gate and arrange collection of return
  • Participate in dispensing of prescriptions.
  • No experience required but a strong passion for the working in the Pharmacy setting within a prison

Qualifications required

  • Willingness to train for your NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Service Skills
  • Strong interest in Pharmacy
  • Medicines handing experience desirable not essential
  • Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy
  • Ability to work within a busy environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures
