About this position:
We are looking for someone to join our friendly team on a permanent basis, to work a minimum of 3 full days each week, which will definitely include Saturdays. The successful candidate must have retail customer facing experience, ideally from the jewellery or giftware sector.
Our current opening hours are 9.30 - 4.30 and we are closed on Wednesdays and Sundays (with exceptions in December or for special events).
On-the-job training is provided, including to an industry recognised standard.If not already completed in previous employment, the successful applicant would be enrolled on the National Association of Jewellers JET1 / JET2, which is a 6 / 12 month remote learning course, that involves completing online modules such as Hallmarking, Customer Care & Gemstones, with JET2 concluding with an external exam and diploma.
The role details include, but are not limited to:
Greeting and serving customers to assist them in choosing suitable jewellery, watches and gifts, which will involve verbally connecting with all prospective customers.
Booking in repairs, which includes detailing existing damage to items.
Examining and booking out repairs to be taken / sent to our repair specialists.
Once trained and familiar with the role, the candidate must be prepared to travel to Birmingham to deliver and collect repairs from our external repairers once a week..
Frequent cleaning of stock jewellery, watches, and the working environment.
Basic repairs, fitting new watch batteries and straps, as well as altering stock and customers watch bracelets.
A eye for detail, a good telephone manner, basic computer knowledge and confidence when dealing with the public are all essential.
