Location: Isle of ManClosing date for applications: Friday 23rd August 2024The opportunity: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Systems Expert with extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in SAP. This is a manager role within the Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) Team, where you will be responsible for the maintenance, development and improvement of our accounting systems and their interaction with wider systems and processes. The aim of this role is to ensure that the accounting and related systems meet the company's financial reporting, regulatory reporting, tax reporting, business analysis and operational needs. This role requires an understanding of accounting principles and the ability to work with colleagues both in FAR and the wider finance team to ensure that we have the correct platform for accurate financial reporting. Key responsibilities:
  • System Implementation and Maintenance:
    • Lead the implementation of SAP accounting modules.
    • Customise and configure SAP to meet the company's accounting needs.
    • Ensure the smooth operation of SAP systems, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
    • Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders both in the wider IOM business and Group functions to ensure that systems meet all requirements.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
    • Ensure suitable controls are implemented and maintained in accordance with Group and local requirements.
    • Develop training for users, manuals, guides, and training materials.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Analyse current accounting processes and identify areas for improvement.
    • Develop and implement best practices to streamline accounting operations using SAP.
    • Identify opportunities for efficiencies, improvements and automation.
    • Work with colleagues in the wider finance team to improve existing processes and systems in terms of improving outputs and removing risk.
    • Lead the financial system elements of projects for FAR, the wider finance team and the IOM business.
  • Integration and Collaboration:
    • Work closely with IT, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of SAP with other business systems.
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to enhance overall business efficiency.
    • Work with the wider FAR and finance team to generate and analyse financial reports to support management decisions.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage SAP-related projects, including upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
    • Coordinate with external consultants and vendors as necessary.
    • Lead the financial system elements of projects for FAR, the wider finance team and the IOM business.
Your skills and experience:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
    • ACA, CIMA, ACCA or other relevant certification is a plus.
  • Experience and Technical Proficiency:
    • Significant experience working with SAP, or similar accounting systems, in an accounting or finance role.
    • Proven experience in implementing and maintaining SAP FICO modules (or similar systems).
    • Familiarity with integration of SAP with other business systems.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
    • Proficiency in SAP configuration and customization.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • An ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
