Job Responsibility:
The post holder will take a lead support the lead procurement and distribution technicians with the efficient procurement of Trustwide pharmaceutical inventory ensuring they are also received and distributed appropriately. They will also play a key role in the timely processing of invoices ensuring local policies and procedures are followed and that as a section Procurement and Distribution comply with the Trust's Standing Financial Instructions. 1. To review and process system-generated orders with wholesalers/suppliers using multiple electronic ordering systems according to an agreed schedule, gaining appropriate authorisation according to standing financial instructions.
2. To liaise with pharmaceutical companies & lead technicians:- to ensure timely receipt of orders not received within the lead time
- to resolve, in the first instance, any supply issues and price queries
- to support distribution with the handling of damaged or short-dated goods
- to arrange wholesaler and supplier credits
3 . To regularly review out-of-stock items, including to-follows, to ensure the most cost-effective option is purchased in line with contracting. This will include some high level management of drugs in shortage. 4. To process invoices for drugs, medical gases and related sundries using the pharmacy computer system EPIC in a timely and accurate manner. To undergo training to ensure competence, including keeping up to date with mandatory and statutory training. To follow all procedures and policies in the department, including any other relevant duties in other areas, as may be required by the Director of Pharmacy. To maintain satisfactory personal performance and professional standards and achieve, where possible, agreed objectives described in the Annual Staff Appraisal system.
