We also use our unique skills to provide wider UK government with counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions. It takes a special sort of person to work at AWE. What if that person was you? We need an experienced Finance Business Partner Specialist to join us at AWE Nuclear Security Technologies to provide expert financial advice and acumen to the Business Partner Manager and Service Delivery Unit. Location: Hybrid and fully flexible working, at our offices based near Reading at RG7 4PR or at Green Park from 2025. You would work from home approximately 3 days most weeks although this is a voluntary arrangement if you prefer to work from our offices. Salary Range: £44,450 to £52,000 What's exciting is: You will be joining the business as a Finance Business Partner Specialist as it embarks on one of the most complex infrastructure programmes in the country at a pivotal moment in its evolution. The UK government has committed substantial investment into improving our infrastructure, so we are building a talented team to make the most of this opportunity. This is a technical role requiring a high level of expertise, there is no line management required. A typical day for a Finance Business Partner Specialist could look like this:
  • Preparing, monitoring and controlling forecasts and budgets, including change control Variance analysis and cost monitoring
  • Provision of narrative for impact and recovery statements Supporting system interrogation and financial performance measurement Preparing cost reports, including trend analysis and early warnings
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with accountable leads, customer budget holders and wider stakeholders
  • Steering and influencing senior leadership to make informed decisions that balance short term priorities
  • Providing constructive scrutiny, insight, and analysis to the Business/Budget Holders on their financial plans and programmes
  • Input into the development of business cases and proposals identifying and highlighting any potential issues. Delivering improvements in financial awareness and acumen
We DO need you to demonstrate the following:
  • CIMA, AAT or a will to work towards qualification (sponsored by us)
  • Finance Business management of large and complex projects
  • Extensive knowledge of Cost Centres
