Job Responsibility:

On behalf of FCDO, we are looking for a Portfolio Specialist - Outside IR35 for a 6 Month contract based Hybrid - Remote & 3 days p/week in London or Milton Keynes. The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) pursues our national interests and projects the UK as a force for good in the world. We promote the interests of British citizens, safeguard the UK's security, defend our values, reduce poverty, and tackle global challenges with our international partners. You will report directly to the Head of the ESND PMO and work closely with PMO technical specialists, Department Heads, other key stakeholders and other members of the ESND PMO to define capability which adds value to them. As a Portfolio Specialist your main responsibilities will be:
  • Portfolio Definition - developing & managing the prioritisation model and balancing the portfolio in terms of strategic goal attainment vs. delivery capacity and business as usual priorities.
  • Analysing the portfolio & making recommendations to the board, ensuring changes are assessed for their impact.
  • Developing & maintaining the portfolio delivery plan, providing support & information to project planning.
  • Developing & maintaining the management dashboard - tracking & updating delivery against the plan.
  • Developing & maintaining the portfolio risk & dependencies registers.
  • Liaising with the finance team regarding monitoring of financial spending.
  • Providing regular reporting to boards.
Please note, this role requires active valid SC clearance. You must be willing & eligible to undergo these checks. You'll have:
  • Demonstrable Portfolio Management experience - including the development of a portfolio.
  • Familiarity with a wide range of portfolio prioritisation & analysis techniques.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to monitor & report on portfolio performance.
  • Excellent problem solving approach to address portfolio definition challenges.
  • Excellent senior stakeholder management & collaboration.
  • A relevant qualification in Portfolio Management - MoP etc - desirable.
  • Experience in property / infrastructure - desirable.
