We are currently looking for an Graduate HR Analyst to join the HR department at LSTM, to focus on collation, analysis and reporting of staff data. The data will primarily be linked to LSTM's Race Equity Charter submission but may also include statutory EDI reports and data to linked to our Athena Swan charter.

You will need to be a proficient user of Microsoft Excel and able to utilise intermediate techniques for data analysis, such as v-look ups, pivot tables and present data in a visually engaging and accessible format.

This is a part time position (approximately 17.5 hours per week) and due to the nature of the project, you may be required to work varying days.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work with confidential and sensitive information to establish and analyse data sets relating to EDI information, including narratives to clarify understanding
  • Analyse data to identify trends and potential underlying issues
  • Conduct intersectional analysis to identify areas of inequality and provide reports
  • Implement qualitative research methods such as interviews or focus groups to gather insights
  • Perform quantitative research, including statistical analysis and data modelling to identify trends and patterns in data sets
  • Prepare and present information using data visualization techniques to portray findings in a clear way to aid understanding
  • Support analysis and presentation of other EDI data including Athena Swan and internal EDI reports
  • Support analysis of qualitative data
  • Ensure GDPR and other data protection and confidentiality practices are followed in the development and production of reports
  • Work with the Race Equity Charter Self Assessment Team and Athena Swan Self-Assessment team to provide ad hoc and regular reports under direction of HR Analyst
  • To identify and access external benchmarks against which to compare our data
  • Promote equality of opportunity and inclusive practice in all aspects of work undertaken and ensure alignment to LSTMs core values
  • Act in a manner that safeguards children and/or vulnerable adults as applicable to the role
  • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the role

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Degree in relevant discipline (such as STEM subject)/equivalent qualification or extensive work experience
  • Data visualisation and storytelling with data, knowledge and experience in Excel (Power BI is desirable, but not essential)
  • Experience working with large/complex data sets
  • Experience delivering high levels of accuracy in data management
  • Understanding of basic statistical analysis techniques
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large/complex data sets
  • Confident mining data from various data sources, interpreting it and communicating findings numerically and in written form in layman's terms
  • Ability to respond to ad-hoc requests or to tight deadlines
