Based at: North Bridge Depot Salary details: Grade 10, £44,401 - £48,356 (pay award pending) Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week - Monday - Friday Flexible working arrangements: Will be considered in line with service delivery requirements. Closing date: 15th September 2024 City of Doncaster's Street Scene service are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Operations Manager, to manage and develop the grounds maintenance and street cleansing operations across the borough. This role provides a direct opportunity to make a difference to lives of the residents of Doncaster. The role will have direct responsibility for a geographical area within Doncaster, but also work across the borough to help develop and move the service forward delivering excellent results for its customers. The role will oversee the management of around 70 staff and will be supported by a team of Street Scene supervisors. The successful applicant will be a strong, enthusiastic, energetic leader and manager, with a passion to help improve Doncaster for all its residents. The successful candidate will oversee all scheduled grounds maintenance and environmental cleansing work which is carried out daily. This includes maintaining the Councils parks and green spaces, cleansing the city and town centres, and dealing with fly tipping. The role will work with wider Street Scene management team to improve the whole service. This will involve identify creative, realistic solutions to the challenges faced and seeking out commercial opportunities to help drive the service forward. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated candidate who is ready to embrace the challenge of making a change in the heart of community. The Street Scene service is one of Council's key front-line teams which has a direct impact on the quality of life for all of Doncaster's residents. It is important the service continues to improve, achieving a high standard of customer care and meeting the changing needs of the borough. This will involve providing practical and creative solutions to the complex issues and situations presented to you. We are looking for a candidate with an experience of leading, motivating and inspiring a multi-disciplined team preferably within a Street Scene environment. They will have a track record of delivering successful operational projects which provided tangible improvements and value for money. Experience of building and maintaining successful relationships and partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders is important. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in a weekend standby arrangement on a rota basis.
