Job Responsibility:

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cellular Pathology Department for a Laboratory Healthcare Support Worker, Band 2. The vacancy is a permanent 37.5 hours per week post, worked over Monday to Friday. We are a busy routine Histology and Diagnostic Cytology department processing 36,000 specimens per year. The HCSW role is primarily to facilitate the throughput of histology and Diagnostic Cytology specimens through the laboratory and on to the reporting consultants. Applications are invited from candidates seeking full or part time hours, and candidates are strongly advised to apply even if the tenure of the post is not what they would ordinarily consider. Please specify your preferred full time or part time option within your application. Main duties will include working within specimen reception, undertaking the unpacking, checking and registration steps required for the specimens. The role also includes tissue block and microscope slide filing, the receipt and unpacking of consumables, telephony and general housekeeping duties. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
