At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Product Owner to join our engineering team within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business. The CS3 line of business operates across the UK, providing innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers. We help to ensure the availability of front-line capability wherever and whenever required.
This role will be part of the CS3 Digital team, a growing team that produces data driven applications to improve our current business and create new opportunities for our customers in the UK and around the world. The work being done within CS3 Digital is key to the future of the CS3 line of business, and has the potential to make a real difference to the way that we work and the solutions that we're able to offer our customers. This role offers the opportunity for someone to contribute to how we achieve this, as well as having the opportunity to work with customers to ensure what we create really meets their needs.
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Product Owner to join the team. Reporting into the Project Engineering Lead the ideal candidate will have a background in software development, experience in leading IT projects, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of Agile methodologies. As Product Owner, you will be responsible for collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, defining and prioritizing the product backlog, and ensuring the successful delivery of high quality IT products that meet business objectives.
What You Will Do as a Product Owner:
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the development team, conveying the product vision and priorities effectively.
- Define and prioritize the product backlog based on business value, technical feasibility, and customer needs.
- Work alongside our business analysts to gather and analyse stakeholder requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Work closely with the development team, solution architects and independent QA to deliver high quality IT products on time and within budget.
- Break down high-level requirements into actionable user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Conduct sprint planning, backlog refinement, and other Agile activities to ensure smooth project execution.
- Continuously monitor and track project progress, identifying and mitigating risks as needed.
- Actively participate in product demonstrations, retrospectives, and feedback sessions to gather insights for continuous improvement.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on the product, providing guidance and support to stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in IT project management and Agile methodologies.
We would like to hear from you if you have a combination of the following:
- Proven experience working as a Product Owner or similar role in IT projects.
- Strong understanding of software development processes and methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA or Trello.
- Experience working in industries such as software development, IT consulting, or digital transformation.
- Strong leadership skills, with a collaborative and proactive approach to team management.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field.
- It would be nice if you had: Certification in Agile (e.g. Certified Scrum Product Owner).
Intrinsic Factors
- This role could be based on any of our UK sites, with the ability to use Custom (Hybrid) working to balance on and off-site working
- As CS3 is a geographically dispersed line of business, the role is likely to include travel within the UK, and potentially abroad, to support team and customer meetings. In some cases you will also be expected to stay overnight as part of this travel
