We are seeking to recruit 2 Payroll and Pensions Officers within the Payroll and Pensions team. You will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of the monthly College payroll and be part of a vibrant team of experienced professionals.
What you would be doing
- Adding new employees and casual staff to the payroll, ensuring that eligible staff are enrolled to the appropriate pension scheme
- Processing all payroll and pension adjustments (such as sickness, contractual changes and one-off payments), including calculation of arrears where necessary
- Checking that all new starters, leavers and adjustments have been processed correctly and make any necessary corrections
- Ensuring that all payroll and pensions deadlines are met
- Support the customer services activities of the HR Staff Hub by providing comprehensive responses to payroll inbox queries, including calculations when necessary
- Processing all requests to transfer between, and opt-out from, the pension schemes
- Preparing data files for pensions schemes, including joiners, leavers and contributions
- Acquiring and maintaining a working knowledge of USS, SAUL & NHS Pensions scheme rules
- Supporting with ad hoc requests and Payroll related projects as requested by the Payroll & Pensions Manager
What we are looking for
The following criteria are essential:
- Demonstrable high level of numeracy
- Demonstrable high level of literacy
- Experience of working with an automated payroll system or experience in pensions administration - minimum one year
- Experience of working in a deadline-driven team with multiple demands
The following criteria are desirable:
- Experience working within higher education sector
- Knowledge of employment and tax legislation or knowledge of USS, SAUL & NHS Pensions scheme rules
