Post No. LEICY100013.11 - Flying Start Practitioner

Fixed Term until March 2025

Level 3 Qualified (CCLD, CCPLD, NVQ or similar) in accordance with the Social Care Wales Qualification Framework.

The Post hold must hold a Playwork qualification as identified within the Social Care Wales Qualification Framework.

The successful candidate would be working Monday to Friday, 2:30 pm - 6 pm during school term time (39 weeks). The post commences as soon as possible, on a fixed term basis until 31/03/2025.

We are seeking to appoint a candidate who is:

  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated practitioner
  • Reliable and conscientious
  • An excellent team member who is willing to enter fully into the life of the After-school Club
  • A caring practitioner who places the wellbeing of children at the heart of their practice.
  • Excellent communication skills with team member, children, parents and other professional.
  • Has the ability to identify own training and development needs and participate in on-going training.

The post holder will be required to take holidays outside of term time.

The candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as genuine commitment to the care and development of very young children. The candidates will possess level 2 standard literacy as a minimum, GCSE English grade C or above.

A relevant Childcare qualification Level 3 (or above), experience of working with children and a good knowledge of child development and Care Inspectorate Wales legislation, childcare policies and practice is essential.

The recruitment process will involve an interview and observation in the childcare room with senior members of the Early Years and Childcare Team. The candidates will be asked to plan and deliver an age-appropriate activity to the children. Please be aware we do not allow notes to be brought into to the interview.
