Job Title: Legal and Compliance Officer
Reporting to: Chief Administration Officer
Location: Remote Working
Salary: Competitive (dependant on experience)
Job Summary:
The Legal and Compliance Officer is responsible for assisting in drafting, reviewing, amending, and updating company policies, contracts, terms and conditions, and addressing minor legal matters. The role ensures continuous compliance with relevant legislation, embedding compliance throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and amend internal company policies, procedures, contracts, and Terms and Conditions to ensure they reflect current legislation and business needs.
- Address and provide guidance on minor legal issues arising within the business.
- Proactively monitor legislative changes through the Legislation Update Service and communicate these updates clearly and effectively across the business.
- Collaborate with various departments to embed compliance awareness and best practices within daily operations.
- Maintain an organised and updated library of company documentation and legal records.
- Coordinate compliance audits and support the preparation and follow-up of action plans to address identified gaps.
- Provide training and briefings to staff to enhance legal compliance awareness.
- Ensure adherence to ISO standards relevant to business operations (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and all other applicable industry standards.
- Assist the Chief Administration Officer, with reporting on compliance matters and legal risks.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, or related discipline preferred.
- Experience in policy drafting, compliance management, or a similar legal or administrative role.
- Strong understanding of UK compliance requirements and relevant legislation.
- Exceptional attention to detail and excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks effectively, and handle confidential information discreetly.
- Proficiency with legal research tools, including Legislation Update Service platforms.
