About the role

As a Recreations assistant you will support the senior Recreations team in the operational running of the department, ensuring the department is safe, clean, efficient, friendly and professional at all times.

In this role you will:

  • undertake duties as part of the daily rota responsibly and professionally as directed by the Senior Team
  • carry out duties including covering leisure reception, pool and Playbarn supervison as well as maintaining the cleaning and hygiene standards across all facilities.
  • deal with guests in a safe, friendly, helpful manner, assisting them wherever possible and encouraging them to visit and return to the facilities
  • supervise all areas vigilantly, guest safety being our top priority
  • ensure that guests appropriately treat facilities and act in line with the rules and health and safety policies of the leisure facilities at all times
  • instruct in the activities around the resort (full training provided)
  • prevent accidents occurring by identifying potentially dangerous situations and dealing with them accordingly
  • identify emergencies quickly and deal with them following Resort emergency procedures
  • give basic first aid assistance where necessary and follow accident reporting procedures
  • check and maintain safety and rescue equipment
  • carry out water testing and chemical dosing procedures
  • carry out reception tasks including checking membership, taking entrance payments, and issue towels ensuring that the proper procedures rules are implemented at all times
  • carry out administrative or cash-handling duties as directed by the Recreations Senior Team

To be suitable for this role you will:

  • have a strong interest in health, fitness and wellbeing
  • have previous experience as a pool lifeguard or pool supervison
  • be a strong swimmer and be willing to undertake ongoing training in the pool.
  • enjoy working as part of a team but be able to complete tasks unsupervised
  • demonstrate great customer service skills
  • be calm under pressure when the facilities are busy and in an emergency situation
  • have some knowledge of health and safety and first aid awareness (training provided)
  • be hardworking with good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness and houeskeeping
  • enjoys working in a fun, professional environment.

Full training will be provided and undertanken as required including First Aid, Pool Responsder and COSSH training.

You will work on a rolling rota 5 days from 7, including shifts that cover all areas of the leisure facilities. Evening and weekend availability will be required on a rotational basis.
