Job Description :

Route One is looking for an experienced Preconstruction & Operations Delivery Manager to play a key leadership role in both preconstruction planning and operational execution. This is a full-time hybrid position based in Wakefield, offering flexibility and the opportunity to make a real impact.

About the role

This is a unique dual-role that blends front-end client engagement and engineering planning with responsibility for project delivery, performance targets, and operational excellence. You’ll be central to shaping projects, leading internal teams, and building long-term relationships with clients and supply chain partners.

As part of our senior leadership team, you’ll also contribute directly to our business strategy, drive continuous improvement, and help Route One achieve its mission of “Exceeding Expectations.”

What you’ll do

• Lead Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and front-end engineering coordination
• Support estimators, cost managers, and design teams with clear direction
• Oversee proposal writing, budgeting, and client-facing technical support

Project Delivery & Operations

• Ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient project execution
• Lead and inspire operational teams, ensuring alignment with business values
• Monitor resources, performance, programme delivery, and environmental targets

Leadership & Strategy

• Act as a key member of the leadership team, influencing company direction
• Maintain strong client and supplier relationships, resolving issues effectively
• Oversee contracts, manage supply chain performance, and ensure financial control
• Contribute to demand planning, continuous improvement, and business growth

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong experience in construction project and operations management
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Proven ability to manage contracts, teams, and supplier relationships
• Skills in budgeting, design management, and client engagement
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational abilities

Pay: Up to £80,000.00 per year
