Research Services This post is available immediately. It is 0.4 FTE as a fixed term contract until 30 July 2025, with a possibility of a further extension. Summary of the role This role is within the Research Finance pillar of the Research Services Directorate, which provides overarching training and quality assurance for all research finance activity, including support for research application and budget monitoring; financial authorisation for applications; financial stewardship for live grants; provision of live grant information to support grant holders and colleges; financial reporting to sponsors and other external bodies; support to the management of studentships and grant administration. Research Development & Management and some Research Finance staff are managed and organised in seven clusters, either around a particular group of funders (Health, Bio-environment; Physical sciences and technology; Social sciences; Humanities; European/International) or for Cornwall research services. Main purpose of the job:
  • To provide a general financial enquiry, administration and support service for research.
  • To support financial elements of the research project lifecycle including costing, delegated financial submission of low risk applications, award set-up and live grant financial management, support for financial budget planning, forecasting and in-year monitoring in support of a portfolio of stakeholders and projects. Where appropriate support both the research development and financial elements of the research project lifecycle for standard and complex research grants and contracts.
Research Services Directorate The Research Services Directorate is a key enabler to the delivery of the University's Research and Impact Strategy, a successful next REF submission and meeting research income targets. You will be based within the Research Finance pillar of the Health and Life Sciences cluster of the Research Services Directorate, situated at our Streatham and St Luke's campus office. You will provide overarching support, training and quality assurance for all research finance activity, including research applications and budget monitoring; financial stewardship for live grants; provision of live grant information to support grant holders and colleges; financial reporting to sponsors and other external bodies; support to the management of studentships and grant administration.
