RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent Functional area: Operations & Maintenance

We have an exciting opportunity for a Risk Modelling Analyst to join the Offshore Operations team at RWE, to provide commercial risk expertise in support of operations and maintenance project modelling and contractual agreements for global offshore wind farm projects. This is a newly created role, and the relevant applicant will have a fantastic opportunity to define and implement new best in class risk methodologies to be applied to our operational business and to our future development portfolio. Prior experience in the offshore wind industry is not mandatory.

Role description

  • You will be joining a friendly and diverse team of O&M Commercial Modelling Analysts, who are responsible for optimising O&M strategies by calculating the resources required to deliver them, the resultant levels of turbine availability (for revenue forecasting), and the associated O&M costs
  • The team use in-house developed modelling tools to perform their analysis, and will be ideally placed to support the interested applicant in implementing the risk methodologies into those tools, as well as help in understanding the risks associated with offshore wind operation activities
  • In supporting projects, you will work with the commercial modellers to perform detailed logistics, cost and risk modelling of various proposals, the output of which will then inform recommendations for optimised O&M strategies and associated project business cases
  • In addition you will be responsible for developing new risk-based models and techniques for the analysis of risks within Offshore Operations' annual budgeting process, insurance placements and internal project prioritisation
  • The role is a great introduction to the exciting world of renewable energy and offshore wind generation, and will give you plenty of opportunities to be exposed to senior managers

Required skills and experience

  • Extensive experience in the application of statistical risk modelling techniques to large-scale project budgeting, insurance or commercial agreements, and the competence to adapt these techniques to different situations
  • Relevant degree level qualification, preferably in an engineering, economics or similarly numerically based subject
  • Analytical and detail conscious (you like to understand the drivers behind why numbers have changed)
  • Extensive Excel skills, with the use of other risk modelling tools such as @Risk and Active Risk Manager (ARM) an added value
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, and to challenge the work of others in an effective but collaborative manner
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills, and an ability to present numerical information in a clear and concise way to other stakeholders
  • Experience of working with complex cost or financial models would be beneficial
  • A postgraduate qualification in Sustainable Energy or Wind Energy Systems would be a beneficial asset
