Graduate Trainee Tax Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To work as a full-time trainee tax assistant in a busy accountant’s office. With training under the direction of senior staff and home study, working towards an Association of Taxation Technicians qualification. Further opportunities will be available to qualify as a Chartered Tax Adviser.

A description of the role:

· Preparing personal tax computations and returns;

· Possible progression into corporation tax computations and returns;

· Liaising with HMRC on various tax matters;

· Speaking to clients regarding their tax affairs;

· Utilising accountancy packages such as Iris;

· Participate in training and performance development as required;

· Preparing payroll using Sage Payroll;

The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

· Degree in Accountancy or similar

· Strong Maths and English A-Levels and GCSEs

The ideal candidate should have the following qualities:

· Have strong mathematical skills and a logical mind;

· Friendly, reliable and honest;

· A positive and proactive mindset;

· The ability to work under pressure and able to manage their time effectively;

· To be able to work as part of a team;

· The drive to work hard to achieve your goals.

The ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience:

· Be competent in using MS office products and computers;

· An understanding of confidentiality;

· Show excellent communication, organisation and presentation skills;

Full training will be given to develop the skills required and to work within a team.

37.5 hours per week.

Salary – market rates depending on experience.
