We'd all like amazing work to do, and real work-life balance. That's waiting for you at Sainsbury's. As the link between sellers and buyers, retail and head office, our retail operations team is the cog that keeps things running. With teams focused on store facing, labour, transformation, online, delivery and contact centre work, we touch almost every part of the business. It's an incredibly fast-paced environment where you need to pivot not just daily, but often hourly. So while we plan all we can, it's vital that we all think outside our job descriptions and look to optimise and improve how we do everything. There's also a real team ethos. After all, it's people like you who are going to truly transform this part of the business. Retail - Fleet Manager GOL Why join us Joining our team at Sainsbury's means becoming an integral part of the fast-paced and dynamic world of online delivery operations. As a key player in managing the daily operations of our large home delivery fleet, you will have the opportunity to drive continuous improvement and make a significant impact. What you'll do In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Online delivery operation by managing the daily operations associated with running a large home delivery fleet. Your primary objective will be to drive continual improvement across all areas of the delivery operation. This will involve overseeing the day-to-day operation of suppliers, ensuring they meet their contracted SLA targets, and resolving any operational escalations that arise, both during and outside of regular working hours. Additionally, you will be responsible for improving the flow of information between suppliers, store colleagues, and central departments, as well as facilitating stakeholder involvement. Your expertise in the grocery home delivery industry will be critical as you challenge and negotiate with external suppliers, manage the query process surrounding operational costs, and train others in best practice. Your attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to work to tight deadlines will be essential in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the delivery operation. Who you are As a skilled professional in the grocery home delivery industry, you are a highly experienced individual with a proven track record of managing and optimising the daily operations of a large home delivery fleet. Strong communication and negotiation skills, coupled with meticulous attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities, enable you to effectively liaise with stakeholders, facilitate smooth information flow, and drive continuous improvement in processes and procedures. Your ability to work under tight deadlines and your commitment to delivering value for money in operational costs make you an invaluable asset in managing and improving the delivery operation. We are committed to being a truly inclusive retailer so you'll be welcomed whoever you are and wherever you work. Around here, there's always the chance to try something new — whether that's as part of an evolving team or somewhere else across the business - and we take development seriously and promise to support you. We also recognise and celebrate colleagues when they go the extra mile and, where possible, offer flexible working. When you join our team, we'll also offer you an amazing range of benefits.
