Position: R&D Manager Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom - Hybrid (3 days at the office) Employment type: Full-time regular (flexible working options available) Benefits: Competitive salary; flexible benefits fund which can be utilised against over 20 benefits; pension scheme with up to 9% employer contribution; life insurance; income protection insurance; 28 days annual leave (plus bank holidays); 3 days paid volunteering The job Reporting to the Director Industrial Platform Core, you'll be part of our Industrial Platform, managing a skilled development team producing key services for our Connect Platform. You'll be responsible for the management and development of up to 7 software developers, with additional duties for collaborating with teams both within the Industrial Platform and all AVEVA. Key responsibilities
  • Manage a team of software engineers with full line management responsibilities, including one-to-ones, goal and objective setting and quarterly performance check-ins.
  • Work with the Program Management team to ensure the team delivers on a well-defined backlog, including negotiating scope and timescales. Follow agile best practices.
  • Work with the Technology group to ensure the team delivers technologically advanced solutions that meet the demands of the Portfolio team and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute in a technical capacity to all parts of the development cycle and enable members of the team to engage in and steer technical direction and decision making.
  • Work closely with the assigned technical lead for the team/project.
  • Ensure the team collaborates with all stakeholders throughout the software process.
  • Ensure the team follows a culture of continuous improvement.
Ideal experience
  • Strong experience of leadership within software projects. This may be in a formal leadership role or as a de-facto technical leader while working as a software developer.
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies.
  • An understanding of how to clearly communicate requirements and progress. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role.
  • A good background in technology and software development.
