Job Responsibility:
We are looking for volunteers to join our collaborated Cyber-Crime Unit. We serve both Surrey and Sussex to reduce and respond to Cyber-Dependant Crime. Cyber Crime Volunteers will use their specialist skills from the information and digital technology sectors to provide technical expertise and support to Surrey and Sussex Police. This will enable the Forces to better respond to threats from cyber-enabled and cyber-dependent crime. Cyber Crime Volunteers will volunteer alongside police officers and staff to help improve overall technical effectiveness and build operational capability within digital investigation. They will also draw on their experience of cyber threats to better support businesses and individuals to protect and prepare themselves against future attack.

The Role & Key Responsibilities
The key tasks carried out by Cyber Crime Volunteers will include:
- Providing technical advice, guidance and support within digital investigations and digital forensics.
- Supporting the development of police capability within cyber based investigation and any cyber crime prevention activity.
- Problem-solving within the relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks.
- Interacting with the public to provide cyber protect advice as well as identify new opportunities and channels for us to share Cyber Security guidance.
- Scheduling volunteering activity effectively and communicating results clearly.
- Keeping abreast of new and emerging technologies and techniques.
Volunteering within Cyber Crime will provide the opportunity to;
- Contribute to keeping communities in Surrey and Sussex safe.
- Apply existing specialist skills to cyber investigations.
- Join a busy policing team and volunteer alongside police officers and staff
- Gain a greater understanding of how the complexities of Cyber Crime affect policing
Skills & Experience
We are looking for candidates who possess -
- Holistic knowledge in the field of Cyber Security
- Strong public speaking skills
- Ability to translate technical concepts into accessible language
- Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing threat landscapes
- Access to transport to attend events across Surrey and Sussex
- The most important requirement is passion and energy to make a difference in our community to keep them safe from Cyber Crime.
- Foundational technical skills required but much will be learned on the job
- Strong organisation skills
