We have an equally talented team of clerks and administration staff to ensure the high quality of service is maintained and that the expectations of our clients are realised.

We are currently looking for a new member of staff to join our busy clerking team.

The successful candidate will be bright, hardworking with excellent customer service skills. An ability to show initiative and work well under pressure is also essential.

The role will involve providing administrative and additional support to the specialist barristers and clerks within the Civil, Criminal and Family teams as and when required.

Duties will include responding to telephone and email enquiries from solicitors and barristers; ensuring the barristers have the documentation required for each hearing; updating the diary to accurately reflect the barrister’s court commitments and generally assisting the clerking team in promoting the practice of the barristers in each team and chambers as a whole.

The work undertaken at a barrister’s chambers is interesting, high paced and sensitive so the ability to multi-task, communicate well, work accurately and confidentially is essential. This busy and demanding role is an excellent opportunity to start a career in a unique area of the legal world.

The role is permanent, full-time and office based.

Hours

37 ½ hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The core hours are 9am to 5:30pm with occasional shifts of 8:30am to 5pm or 9:30am to 6pm.

Minimum Requirements

-Suitable candidates will be educated to A level standard or above, with GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) in Mathematics and English grade A*-C.

-Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of the major Microsoft products and ability to master bespoke IT software.

-Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work calmly and effectively in a pressured environment.

-Minimum of six months experience of clerical/administrative work or work involving customer service is essential.

-Professional attitude and presentation.

In return

The role comes with a starting salary of £25,000-28,000 dependent on experience and to be reviewed on completion of probationary period.

Holiday entitlement is 25 days plus bank holidays with an additional day of holiday for each completed year of service for the first 5 years.
