Position Overview:
The Healthcare Fitout Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive estimates for fitout projects within healthcare facilities, including dental practices, hospitals, clinics, and medical offices. This role requires a detailed understanding of construction processes, materials, and costs specific to healthcare environments, ensuring projects meet stringent regulatory and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Estimation:
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and requirements to develop detailed cost estimates.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and price labour, materials, and equipment needed for fitout projects.
2. Bid Preparation:
- Assemble comprehensive bid proposals, including scope of work, exclusions, and clarifications.
- Submit completed bids on time and in accordance with client requirements.
- Participate in bid reviews and adjust estimates based on feedback and revised project scopes.
3. Cost Analysis and Budgeting:
- Conduct cost analysis to determine the feasibility of projects within budget constraints.
- Work with project managers to develop budgets and track costs against estimates.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options without compromising quality.
4. Vendor and Subcontractor Management:
- Source and evaluate bids from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate contracts to ensure best pricing and adherence to project specifications.
- Maintain a database of reliable vendors and subcontractors with a focus on those experienced in healthcare projects.
5. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all estimates comply with relevant healthcare regulations and building codes.
- Stay updated on industry standards and practices, especially those specific to healthcare construction.
6. Client Interaction:
- Engage with clients to understand their needs and expectations.
- Provide professional guidance on cost implications of design choices.
- Maintain strong relationships to foster repeat business and referrals.
7. Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of all estimation activities, including cost databases and historical data.
- Prepare and present detailed reports to management and clients.
- Ensure all documentation is complete, organized, and accessible for future reference.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction estimation, ideally with experience specifically in healthcare fitout projects.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar), MS Office Suite, and project management tools.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and costs; familiarity with healthcare-specific requirements and standards.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or membership in relevant professional bodies are advantageous.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with occasional visits to construction sites.
- May require extended hours to meet project deadlines.
- Regular interaction with project teams, clients, and vendors.
Salary between £25,000 and £35,000 per annum, depending on experience
Company wide bonus scheme available upon completion of probation
28 days holiday, inclusive of bank holidays
