Job Purpose
Plymouth Argyle Football Club is seeking a dedicated full-time Facilities Operative to join our team. This role is integral to maintaining the high standards of our facilities, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for our fans, players, and staff across our multi-site operation. The Facilities Operative will embody our club's values of fan focus, community engagement, environmental responsibility, and excellence.
Knowledge Skills and Experiences
Knowledge
· Understanding of building maintenance procedures.
· Awareness of health and safety regulations.
· Familiarity with basic repair techniques and equipment operation.
Skills
· Strong attention to detail.
· Excellent problem-solving abilities.
· Good communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks.
· Basic IT skills for reporting and communication.
· Ability to work independently with initiative.
Experience
Previous experience in a facilities or maintenance role.
Experience working in a customer-focused environment is preferred.
Familiarity with sports facilities or similar venues is advantageous.
Qualifications
· GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths.
· Relevant technical qualifications in plumbing, electrical work, or general maintenance (desirable).
· Health and Safety certification (desirable).
· Driving licence - car (essential)
Key Role Requirements
· Perform routine maintenance and repairs across the club's facilities.
· Ensure all areas are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
· Support match day operations, including setting up and taking down equipment.
· Respond to maintenance requests promptly and efficiently.
· Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and address any issues.
· Flexibility to work a flexible shift pattern to include out-of-hours working, a duty keyholder responsibility, and to be able to work all home matchdays.
· Ability to travel to all Club sites including Haxter Court warehouse, Harpers Football Centre, Harpers Park, Millenium Street pitches and Brickfields Community Sports site.
Budgetary Responsibility
· Assist the Facilities & Contracts Manager in managing the maintenance budget.
· Source and order supplies cost-effectively.
· Ensure all work is carried out within the allocated budget.
Outputs
· Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety.
· Complete maintenance tasks within set timeframes.
· Ensure all facilities are operational and ready for use.
· Provide excellent service to all users of the club's facilities.
Interactions
· Work closely with the Facilities & Contracts Manager and grounds staff, Health & Safety Manager and the Safety & Security staff.
· Liaise with external contractors and suppliers as needed.
· Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations on match days and events.
· Engage with fans and visitors to provide assistance and support when required.
