The role

Applications are invited for a Research Assistant position in sleep and neuromodulation research as part of the research project, hosted by the newly established REM sleep & neuroModulation (REMnM) Lab at the Schools of Biosciences and Psychology. The REMnM Lab is led by Dr Jaramillo and focuses on the elucidation of REM sleep function by employing multimodal and neuromodulation (closed-loop auditory stimulation) approaches.

The position will be based at the Surrey Sleep Research Centre (SSRC) and will involve a close collaboration with King's College London and ETH Zurich. This role is a full-time fixed term contract, flexi time.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Develop and setup of experimental procedures.
• Recruit study participants, organize overnight and at-home data collections.
• Perform overnight data collections at the SSRC and support study participants at home.
• Perform data processing and analyses.
• Ensure validity and reliability of data and maintain accurate records of findings at all times.
• Write abstracts and publications.
• Present findings to colleagues in lab meetings and internal seminars, and at scientific conferences.
• Plan, organise and deliver outreach activities.

About you

The successful candidate should have a master's degree in Biology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering or other relevant discipline. You should be passionate about neuroscience with an interest in sleep and neuromodulation.

You should have good interpersonal skills, attention to detail, be reliable, and be willing to take on responsibility. We're looking for a team player, flexible in approach and capable of switching tasks as priorities dictate. Quality of work is of paramount importance.

You should bring programming skills (Matlab/Python/R) and be willing to further develop these skills.
