We are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join Bank of New York as an Operations Controls Business Manager to support the Head of Operations Controls and manage the ongoing activities to support the controls function requirements. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring control processes to ensure operational efficiency, compliance with regulatory requirements, and mitigation of operational risks. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of operational control frameworks, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in driving Business Planning & Analysis in our Finance team.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

Control Management

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive operations control framework.
  • Oversee the implementation of control processes and procedures across various departments.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of control measures and make necessary adjustments
  • Identify potential operational risks and implement strategies to mitigate them
  • Manage materials and reporting required for external regulators
  • Financials
    • Partner with Finance and Operations leadership to establish the annual operating plan.
    • Review Monthly Financial performance with Finance teams and respective Operations teams, identify variance drivers and actions required.
    • Drive Efficiency & Expense tracking across organization including execution and analysis, synthesizing of outcomes to drive actions
    • Contribute to the strategic direction of your assigned line of business and where necessary partner with your peers in support of cross-organizational initiatives
  • Workforce
    • Headcount planning across organization including forecasting
    • Drive open requisition and approval process; facilitate talent redeployment where appropriate
    • Drive location strategy including both migration of functions as well as integrating in next-gen workplace planning
  • Management Reporting & Metrics
    • The provision of accurate and timely MIS and Metrics to all stakeholders
    • Drive the production and oversight of the daily, weekly, monthly executive management metrics for the Operations organization
    • Liaise with the central metrics team to facilitate the introduction of new metrics and validate of current metrics to ensure alignment with outcomes. Review and provide context and key drivers to variances.
    • Accountable for both internal and senior management business review reporting
  • Governance & Administration
    • Facilitate operational administration and governance of both reoccurring and ad-hoc actions.
    • Champion internal attestation and compliance efforts including but not limited to Personal Securities Trading, Sensitive Roles, and Consecutive leave designations
    • Facilitate organizational construct changes, including cost code updates, financial hierarchy alignment, and other related change management efforts as needed.
    • On behalf of Operations leadership, organize and facilitate routine staff meetings, town halls, off-sites, or other ad hoc meetings as needed.
  • Adhoc Projects and Support
    • Actively engage in projects as allocated by either Business Management or Operations leadership. May serve as a project lead, enlisting support from more junior staff or peers.
    • Development of efficient and automated solutions in the areas of responsibilities set out above

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

Experience: in a similar role, preferably within a financial institution or a large-scale operations environment.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strategic Thinking: Capability to develop and execute engagement strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Change Management Expertise: Experience in navigating organizational change and supporting employees through transitions.
  • Analytical Abilities: Proficiency in analyzing engagement metrics and deriving insights to drive improvements.
  • Collaboration: Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's Degree: Preferably in Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
