We continue to expand our current recovery community services with Wigan and Leigh and have the following exciting vacancies to grow the established recovery community:
We are actively seeking candidates with lived experience of substance misuse who are in recovery and are able to relate to and express natural empathy based on experiences.
Lived Experience Support Workers will be motivated by the desire to help and support people to get to the other side of difficult experiences and to move forward in their lives thorough active listing and empathising around shared experiences and grow the existing active recovery community.
· You will have relevant lived experience of substance misuse in order to support others going through similar experiences
· Share your lived experiences as appropriate in a positive way to create hope, aspiration and motivation to support service users to achieve their individual goals.
· Support service users to gain more control over their lives and identify the right resources for their needs that provide them with the necessary tools to build social networks to support sustained recovery
· Create interventions and deliver meaningful activities to empower the recovery of individuals accessing the service that are experiencing substance misuse issues.
· Support the growth of the Wigan & Leigh Recovery Community
To be successful you will:
· Have lived experience of substance misuse
· Have a sound working knowledge of the models of recovery within substance misuse services in practice
· Understand the cause and effects of substance use on clients, families and the community
· Be able to support service users on a 1:1 basis and in a group setting
· Work in partnership with other agencies to achieve the best outcome for the client and the wrap- around services in the local area
We are looking for
· People who have worked in a similar type role or have relevant experience.
· Can operate in a non-judgemental manner and knowledge of relevant legislation in all activities.
· Have the ability to make decisions whilst understanding when to refer to specialist support within the organisation and communicate with team members.
· Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft 2010 packages.
