The School: Teaching Assistant

The Central London primary school is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an ‘outstanding’ primary school and help support a student with Downs Syndrome. This school strives to provide the highest possible standards of education for all its students, recognising the value and uniqueness of everyone.

The Candidate: Teaching Assistant

Do you have experience/training in learning support positions? Are you an aspiring teacher? Have you previously been a Teaching Assistant, HLTA, cover supervisor or had experience working with children?

In this Teaching Assistant role, you will be working with a student with Downs Syndrome, supporting the student with their learning. The role will require some intimate personal care, support with SALT and social skills. Working together with excellent teachers, school staff and family of the student to help provide a nurturing environment for them to learn.

—WHAT YOU WILL NEED—

• Excellent written and spoken English
• Current DBS certificate or the intention to apply
• 2 quality recent references
• Experience working with visual impairment
• Proactive and positive attitude to strive for pupil development

—DESIRABLE—

• Relative certification/qualification
• University degree
• GCSE A*-C or equivalent
• Previous experience working with children
