Job summary
This is an exciting time to join RBG Kew as we deliver our Science Strategy 2021-2025. Science has always been the heart of RBG Kew’s purpose.
We are looking to appoint a competent individual as a Herbarium Support Officer to support the Herbarium Curation Manager and Head of Science Collections. Duties will include coordinating the process for permitting external visitors to access the Science Collections, liaising with Kew’s External Affairs and Press teams for filming events in the Herbarium, liaising with science Estates Liaison officer for building related needs, and assisting the science collections and policy teams in administration around field work approvals and related documentation. You will be a key member of the Science Collections team, working with the other members of the broader Science Directorate and visitors.
Job description
This role will suit those who have a background in supporting senior managers, excellent time management skills and strong attention to detail. You will have previous administration experience, proven ability to work on your own initiative, and someone who proactively plans/follows-up on actions arising. You will also bring outstanding interpersonal skills with a proven ability to engage with people at all levels and build working relationships with stakeholders/colleagues across the organisation. Alongside externally, involving scientific visitors from overseas.
Person specification
The role will be based at our Kew Gardens site and is full time (18-month contract).
Full time hours are 36 per week.
