Job Details
This is a Revenues Team post and will be primarily based within the Income Recovery Team to assist in the billing, collection and recovery of sundry debt in Fife.
We are looking for a self-motivated, positive and competent individual. The postholder will be computer literate and have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to work on their own initiative and in partnership with other council services and external agencies.
Key tasks include:
- Monitoring payments and managing your own caseload of debts
- Dealing with customer enquiries
- Analysing financial information and applying to the customer account
- Taking responsibility for the accuracy of your own workload, ensuring it is processed within set timescales and actions taken are in accordance with relevant legislation, regulations and guidelines.
- Liaising and communicating with other Council services, customers and external partners
- Understanding, interpreting and applying guidelines and regulations where applicable
- Financial reconciliations of payments, investigating and resolving queries
- Participating and assisting in the delivery of projects related to service improvements

The Person
Educated to SCQF level 5 which includes National 5 or SVQ level 2 or Standard Grades at Credit level or equivalent in a business /customer service background.
You will:
- Take a proactive approach to managing your own workload and comply with procedures/guidance whilst carrying out collection processes.
- Have experience in a financial/customer service background, dealing with customers by phone and written correspondence.
- Demonstrate a high level of customer care and communication skills with the ability to respond sensitively to people with a variety of needs.
- Be able to manage multiple demands and be responsible for the accuracy of your own workload.
- Display a flexible attitude to work and change with a positive, pro-active approach.
- Have the ability to use multiple IT systems, including Office 365 and have excellent administrative skills.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
