Do you have excellent customer service skills and a passion to maximise income collection? We're looking for a Former Customer Debt Officer to maximise income and minimise rent loss by proactively collecting and reducing former tenant debt and collecting garage income proactively whilst demonstrating bpha's values.

This role is a hybrid role working from our head office in Bedford.

What you will be doing:

  • Maximising income collection and minimising rent loss by proactively collecting and reducing all former tenant debt.

  • Serving notices on garage accounts where debt is increasing.

  • Writing off former customer debt where appropriate, in line with policy including Switch 2 (Heat Networks) debts.

  • Monitoring and taking debt action in line with the Switch 2 procedure

  • Ensuring a consistent and holistic service is provided is relation to income collection and former tenant debt and processes are accurate, compliant, and effective.

  • Able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills

  • Able to create rapport and build effective relationships quickly

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other teams and external agencies

  • High level of emotional intelligence, with the ability to handle challenging customer situations sensitively and professionally

  • Clear and effective communicator, able to convey complex information to customers and key stakeholders

  • Highly organised and good attention to detail with a right first-time attitude

  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain, clear, concise records

  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making capabilities, able to work within agreed parameters and make operational decisions

  • Ability to process data quickly and accurately

  • Ability to monitor own performance

  • Negotiation skills necessary to liaise effectively with key stakeholders

  • Experience in delivering outstanding customer focused services

  • Competent and confident in your working knowledge of Microsoft teams, word, excel and outlook.
