Job Responsibility:
Accounting Team Manager
As the Accounting Team Manager you will be responsible for overseeing a small, dedicated accounting team and ensuring that everyone is working towards a common goal. This means maintaining a clear communication channel, tracking progress, keeping everyone on task, and ensuring that all team members are contributing. You will ensure timely delivery of services whilst communicating and upholding the highest standards of customer satisfaction. Your role will involve highlighting training needs, motivating staff, meeting deadlines, and assisting them to forge strong client relationships.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership:
- Lead and motivate a team of 6-8 accounting staff
- Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to enhance team performance and capabilities
- Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
- Set clear team goals
- Delegate tasks and set deadlines for your team
- Oversee day-to-day operation
- Carry out 121 reviews with your team
- Working with the Head Accounting Mentor to discover training needs and provide coaching
Assist Team with Client Management:
- Assist the team to oversee a large portfolio of micro business and self-employed clients via a remote service, ensuring their accounting and financial needs are met with accuracy and efficiency
- Assist the team to implement effective client communication strategies to build and maintain strong relationships
Deadline Management:
- Working with the Operations Manager develop and enforce processes to ensure the team meet all client deadlines, including tax filings, financial reporting, and other regulatory compliance
- Proactively identify potential bottlenecks and implement solutions to streamline workflows
Customer Service Excellence:
- Ensure the team uphold the highest standards of customer service, ensuring client satisfaction, loyalty and retention
- Support the team to address client queries and concerns promptly and professionally
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with leadership to develop strategic plans for client management and service delivery
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes
Performance Metrics:
- Alongside the Director of Operations and Operations Manager, monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team and individual performance
- Provide regular reports on team achievements and areas for improvement
Qualifications and Skills:
- AAT qualification (ideally full but part will be considered)
- Strong experience of managing a team
- A background either as an accountant, or having worked in accountancy practice
- Experience in a practice environment dealing with small businesses is ideal, other accounting experience will be considered
- Excellent customer service skills
- The ability to prioritise workloads and take initiative
- A professional and hard-working attitude
- Respectful, trustworthy, polite, honest, and strong work ethic
- Exceptional written English skills
